Dorothée Boccanfuso is full professor in the Department of Economics at Université de Sherbrooke and Vice-Dean of Research, Université de Sherbrooke Business School and Interim director of the Doctorat in Business Administration (DBA). After working for a year as a consultant for the International Development Research Center (IDRC) with the mandate to provide technical support to researchers from the international MIMAP program, she joined the Interuniversity Centre on Risk, Economic Policies, and Employment (CIRPÉE) (formerly CRÉFA) at Université Laval where she obtained her Ph.D. in Economics in 2001.

Her fields of specialization are macroeconomics and econometrics. However, her experience with IDRC, CIRPÉE and international organizations (World Bank, International Monetary Fund, GTZ, ...) in Senegal where she lived for five years, allowed her to develop new areas of interest such as the analysis of poverty. His research focuses on poverty and inequality patterns, growth decomposition methods, education, and more recently on the impact analysis of economic policies on poverty and inequality.
