A LOOK BACK ON OUR EVENTS
CIRANO partner of the Observatory on the Societal Impacts of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies

On December 3rd, Chief Scientist Rémi Quirion announced the creation of the new International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies. The initiative will be led by Lyse Langlois, professor and researcher in industrial relations at Université Laval.

Official Launching of the Montreal Declaration for a Responsible Development of Artificial Intelligence

At the conclusion of the Forum Responsible AI, was announced the preliminary version of the Declaration, aiming to spark public debate and encourage a progressive and inclusive orientation to the development of AI. The new version of the Declaration Responsible AI, enriched by the citizen experience and the expert perspectives from all horizons was unveiled on December 4, 2018 at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. CIRANO is one of the partners in this initiative and several CIRANO researchers have been involved in the various stages and events associated with it. This text will serve as a guide to feed the reflections and research of the Observatory on the Societal Impacts of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies.

Human Resources Forum exclusive to our partners

On November 29, 2018, CIRANO invited its partners to a researcher exchange meeting on current opportunities and concerns in HR management. This event allowed for the official launch of the Montreal Partnership for Human Resource Management (mPHRM) initiative under the direction of Fabian Lange (McGill University) and Decio Coviello (HEC Montréal), both CIRANO Fellows.

tw Marcelin Joanis, Vice President Research – Government partners at CIRANO and Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematical and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, presented the Canadian fiscal federalism in New Delhi during a workshop organized by the World Bank. Economic Impact From Farm Investments in Canada

tw This study aims to determine the benefits and costs generated by the adoption of Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs) by taking into consideration the area of the Bras d'Henri River Beaurivage. This assessment takes into account the geographical particularities of the watershed and compiles the private costs and the public benefits generated.
