New Jacques-Parizeau Research Chair managed by Pierre-Carl Michaud

Creation of a new research chair, the Jacques Parizeau Research Chair in Economic Policy, by HEC Montréal, a creation made possible thanks to the collaboration of the HEC Montréal Foundation and the financial support of the Jacques Parizeau Fund, the Government of Québec and various partners.

Pierre-Carl Michaud, full professor in the Department of Applied Economics, HEC Montréal, Vice President Strategy and Government Relations, Principal Investigator of the Health theme and CIRANO Fellow, will lead the Chair, whose main mission will be to analyze Quebec's major economic challenges through the use of massive data (big data) and advanced statistical techniques.

Favoring an approach centered on individuals, but with macroeconomic implications, the work will be carried out around three main research axes

  • demographic changes and their impacts on the labor market
  • the capacity of the State to adapt and finance social and health services in a context of an aging population
  • issues related to social policies and income redistribution.
