ASDEQ 2022 Annual Conference - Economy and Pandemic Shock: Return to Normal or New Normal?

The ASDEQ Annual Conference 2022 - Economy and Pandemic Shock took place on May 12-13, 2022 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.

The pandemic and the response of policy makers that accompanied it is an unprecedented event in history. The aftermath of this crisis is highly uncertain, but one thing is certain: it will leave its mark. But what are they? The purpose of this conference was to take stock of the issues and challenges that governments and businesses will have to face following this unprecedented shock.

 

The conference was divided into 2 days and 6 workshops. Several CIRANO Fellows were present:

  1. Will public finances suffer from the long COVID? (Luc Godbout, Pierre-Carl Michaud, Martin Coiteux and Pierre Piché)
  2. The pandemic has tested the principles of globalization (Marie-France Paquet, Véronique Proulx, Angelo Katsoras and Jean-David Beaulieu)
  3. Telecommuting as a source of new household preferences: What implications for cities? (Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, Jean-Philippe Meloche, Francis Cortellino and Valérie Poulin)
  4. How are companies adapting to the pandemic shock? (Carole Colizza, Pierre Cléroux and Jean-Sébastien Comtois)
  5. COVID has disrupted education and work: what will be the consequences? (Catherine Haeck, Mia Homsy, Audrey Murray and Jean-Michel Cousineau)
  6. Financial markets: Will central banks make a soft landing? (Sébastien Marion, Jimmy Jean and Clément Gignac)
