Webinar : Reducing food waste by Quebec consumers

Jacinthe Cloutier, Assistant Professor in the Department of Agri-Food Economics and Consumer Sciences at Université Laval and CIRANO researcher and Marie-Claude Roy, lecturer at Université Laval, presented the highlights of the CIRANO report « Reducing Food Waste by Quebec Consumers ».

This report presents the results of a study that aimed to better understand consumer behavior regarding food waste and to identify the best strategies for reducing it.  A literature review on existing strategies, a survey, a food waste diary and focus groups were conducted to propose solutions to reduce food waste in households as well as in service sector businesses.

Jacinthe Cloutier

A CIRANO Researcher since 2019, Jacinthe Cloutier is Assistant Professor and Director of Undergraduate Programs in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Consumer Sciences at Université Laval.

Holding a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, her research interests are consumer behaviour, particularities of young and elderly consumers, and use of credit among university students.

For more than five years, she has been working on research projects aimed at evaluating various concepts such as employee or customer satisfaction, skills in the consumption of goods and services or personal finance.
