CIRANO ends its "virtual tour" of the Laurentian region

Following the publication of the CIRANO report on the Laurentian region's attractiveness factors ("Étude des facteurs d’attractivité de la région des Laurentides") co-written by Jean-Denis Garon and Georges Tanguay (Université du Québec à Montréal), Jean-Philippe Meloche (Université de Montréal), Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin (Polytechnique Montréal), Ingrid Peignier and Molivann Panot (CIRANO), a "virtual tour" was organized with personalized presentations in the 8 MRCs of the Laurentians region to present the main results.

More than 150 people participated in the online presentations, with Philippe Leclerc, Director of the Council of Prefects and Elected Officials of the Laurentian region, in attendance on several occasions. These meetings allowed for very interesting exchanges between the research community and the various political actors, business and tourism representatives. The region's challenges and opportunities in the context of the COVID-19 crisis were discussed.

This study was entrusted to CIRANO by Kamal El-Batal, Director General of the Thérèse-De Blainville RCM. Jean Goulet was strategic advisor for this project.

The study can be consulted on the CIRANO website: https://www.cirano.qc.ca/en/summaries/2020RP-02.
