CIRANO ends its "virtual" tour of the Laurentian region

Following the publication of the CIRANO report on the Laurentian region's attractiveness factors ("Étude des facteurs d’attractivité de la région des Laurentides") co-written by Jean-Denis Garon and Georges Tanguay (Université du Québec à Montréal), Jean-Philippe Meloche (Université de Montréal), Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin (Polytechnique Montréal), Ingrid Peignier and Molivann Panot (CIRANO), we had planned to make personalized presentations in the 8 RCMs of the Laurentian region to present our main results.

Given the health situation, we transformed our meetings into a "Virtual Tour of the Laurentians" in the presence of Philippe Leclerc, Director of the Council of Prefects and Elected Officials of the Laurentian region. More than 150 people participated in our online presentations. These meetings allowed for very interesting exchanges between the research community and the various political actors, business and tourism representatives. We also discussed the current context of the COVID-19 crisis and the region's challenges and opportunities in such a context.

This study was entrusted to CIRANO by Kamal El-Batal, Director General of the Thérèse-De Blainville RCM. Jean Goulet was strategic advisor for this project.
