The CIRANO team would like to extend its warmest thanks to M. Joanis, Professor at Polytechnique Montréal, who ended his term as CIRANO's Vice-President of Research on May 31, 2020.
Prior to his appointment as Vice President Research, he served as Group Vice President Economic Development and then Vice President Research - Government Partnerships.
Over the past year, M. Joanis has contributed to the deployment of the new scientific research coordination structure within each of the nine major themes: Demography and Health, Skills, Economic and Fiscal Policy, Territories, World Economy, Governance and Financial Markets, Competition, Sustainable Development, Innovation and Digital Transformation.
He accompanied the President and CEO in the appointment of the 22 Main Researchers, chosen for their expertise in one of the major themes and for their sustained interest in CIRANO's research and liaison and transfer activities.
M. Joanis will remain active at CIRANO as Researcher and Fellow and also as Senior Research Fellow in Public Finance within the broad theme Economic and Fiscal Policy.
For the academic year 2020-2021, M. Joanis will be in a refresher year in the Department of Economics at the Université de Montréal.
