Marta Bengoa participated in the World Trade Organization Public Forum 2019

 

Marta Bengoa, CIRANO Associated Researcher and Fellow, Associate Professor of International Economics at the Colin Powell School at City University of New York (CUNY-CCNY), participated in the World Trade Organization Public Forum 2019 last October in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

She was on the panel "Young, digital and globally connected: The new face of trading Africa". This panel aimed to give a fresh look at the reality of Africa as a trading continent, with a focus on digital and the role of its young population in changing its dynamics. Marta Bengoa presented new data and discussed on the relevance of current international trade initiatives - the African Continental Free Trade Area, the WTO (including e-commerce), in enabling services trade and jobs for Africa.
