Awarding of the first Claude Montmarquette Scholarship

During the cocktail in memory of Claude Montmarquette on April 19, 2023, Benoit Perron, Director of the Department of Economics at the Université de Montréal and CIRANO Fellow, awarded the first Claude Montmarquette Scholarship.

The Claude Montmarquette Scholarship is an initiative of his colleagues and collaborators from the Department of Economics of the Université de Montréal and CIRANO, as well as his friends, in order to pay tribute to him and honor his memory. Through this scholarship, we wish to inspire future generations!

This scholarship is intended for students registered in one of the Bachelor's degree programs in economics or the Bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics (B.Sc.) at Université de Montréal, who intend to enroll in a Master's or a Ph.D. program in economics and who demonstrate an interest in public policy.

For the first year, it was awarded to Kevin Angly, a student in the Bachelor of Science in Economics program at Université de Montréal, in recognition of the excellence of his academic record and his keen interest in applied econometrics and public policy.

Congratulations Kevin!

Many thanks to all the contributors, organizers and people who made this project possible, especially Louise Roy, President of the CIRANO Board and Henri-Paul Rousseau, Visiting Fellow at CIRANO. A big thank you to the Université de Montréal Foundation.

The award was delivered in the presence of Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, President and CEO of CIRANO, Benoit Perron, Director of the Department of Economics at Université de Montréal, and two of his children, Daniel and Eric Montmarquette.
