Publication of a CIRANO perspective

« Perceptions of climate change risks and behaviours of Quebecers: a portrait at the time of the COP26 »

In the context of the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) held in Glasgow from November 1 to 13, 2021, Nathalie De Marcellis-Warin, Full Professor at Polytechnique Montréal and CIRANO Fellow and Ingrid Peignier, CIRANO Senior Director and Project Director, have published an article in the Perspectives series: CIRANO Barometer on Risk Perception in Quebec "Perceptions of Climate Change Risks and Quebecers' Behaviors: A Portrait at the COP26".

This article provides important elements for the implementation of public prevention policies and, in particular, for encouraging behavioural change. The data presented provide a better understanding of Quebecers' perceptions of climate change and their concerns, as well as a portrait of their behaviours, whether we are talking about investment behaviours, transportation behaviours or behaviours with respect to a tax system for polluting emissions. The results show a general awareness of climate change.
