Collaboration between the 2021 Nobel Prize in Economics, David Card and two CIRANO researchers

David Card, a native of Guelph, Ontario, Professor of Economics at the University of California at Berkeley and Director of the Labor Studies Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research has been awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Economics by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, along with two other economists.

Known for his use of the natural experiments method in the areas of immigration, wages, education, and gender and race differences in the labor market, the Bank of Sweden prize was awarded for his empirical work in labor economics. 

Two researchers and Fellows CIRANO, Benoit Dostie and Daniel Parent, both full professors in the Department of Applied Economics at HEC Montréal, have recently collaborated with him, including the publication of a scientific paper on « Employer Policies and the Immigrant-Native Earnings Gap ».
