External Activity: Electoral Debate on Issues of Public Finance and Taxation in Quebec

Université de Sherbrooke – Campus Longueuil

Wednesday 19 Sep 2018
From 7:30AM To 9:30AM

Organized by the Chaire en fiscalité et finances publiques

What are the main fiscal and financial issues which will occupy the electoral campaign? Combatting inequality, tax treatment for e-commerce, support for economic growth or management of public debt are all examples of issues which citizens must be informed on and for which the political parties must provide proposals to help voters make informed decisions. The Chair has invited the four main Quebec political parties to present their vision on the themes of government objectives and public financing, changes in taxation and budget management, and also to present the financial framework foundation for the proposals of the government they hope to form.

The activity was led by Eric Desrosiers, Economic journalist at Le Devoir.

The debate was followed by a discussion between the members of the audience and two chroniclers from the show ‘Gravel le matin’ which is broadcasted on ICI Radio-Canada Première, Marie Grégoire and Vincent Graton.
