Two CIRANO Researchers participated in the summit of women in manufacturing industry

On November 14, 2019, Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, President and Chief Executive Officer of CIRANO and Full Professor at Polytechnique Montréal, and Catherine Beaudry, CIRANO Researcher and Fellow and Full Professor at Polytechnique Montréal, participated in the first world summit of women in manufacturing industry, under the theme "Women's Industry 4.0".

Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin led the "Employment & Training 4.0" panel.

Catherine Beaudry was present on the opening panel of the summit.

At the initiative of Saadia Lakehal, founder of Emperia Industries Connect Inc., this first global summit dedicated to women in manufacturing was held on November 13, 14 and 15, 2019 in Montreal. The idea for the summit came from one observation: Collectively, women represent more than 26% of the industrial workforce, but they remain invisible or have little or no forums to raise awareness of their role as drivers in the future of manufacturing in the era of robotization and artificial intelligence. The Summit is an international platform that allows women in the manufacturing sector to speak out and be at the heart of the changes they want to see in the industry. The event is an opportunity for women in the manufacturing industry to share their vision, projects, ambitions and implications for the industry 4.0. It is also a unique opportunity for business leaders to learn from the success stories of our pioneers while creating more diverse, innovative, inclusive workplaces and honour women entrepreneurs and leaders who are ambassadors for progress and capable of inspiring the next generation of women. In short, Industrie 4.0 au Féminin is a forum to promote Montreal and Quebec industrial companies on the international scene.
