Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin participated in the RE•WORK Responsible AI Summit

On October 24-25, 2019, in Montreal, Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, President and Chief Executive Officer of CIRANO and Full Professor at Polytechnique Montréal, participated in the RE•WORK Responsible AI Summit. Her presentation focused on Social Inclusion in the AI Pipeline.

Social Inclusion is a major component in the development of Quebec’s artificial intelligence industry. The Declaration of Montreal was created with the collaboration of different stakeholders of society in order to: 1) develop an ethical framework for the development and deployment of AI; 2) guide the digital transition so everyone benefits from technological revolution; 3) open a national and international forum for discussion to collectively achieve equitable, inclusive and ecologically sustainable AI development. Through the construction process of this declaration, the International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of AI and Digital Technology was created with a view to establish responsible AI and digital practices. Therefore, AI’s sector must ensure to be inclusive and reflect the diversity of the individuals and groups of the society.
